“My name is Modu, and I am Manga Kanuri from Nigeria. My people have followed Islam for many generations, and it is deeply tied to our identity and traditions. We also hold to some older beliefs passed down from our ancestors. Across our villages, music and dance are important ways we celebrate life and share stories. Only a small number of Kanuri know Jesus, and many still see the gospel as something foreign or threatening. Pray that God will soften our hearts and raise up believers who will lovingly share the truth with our families and friends. Pray for prayer teams to intercede for us, and for disciples among the Kanuri who will make more disciples. Ask God to use music and culture to help our people understand the hope of Christ.”

A Story of Praise For The Kanuri, Manga People
My name is Modu, and I am Kanuri. For many years, my life was controlled by alcohol, bad choices, and sinful living. I had no peace, no direction, and no hope for my future. In my village, some people came and distributed Audio Bibles in our own language. I received one of the devices and began listening to it regularly.
As I listened to the Word of God, something began to change inside me. Little by little, the message touched my heart. The words of Jesus spoke deeply to me, and I realized how far I had wandered. I repented and decided to follow Christ.
Today, my life is changing through the power of God’s Word. The things that once controlled me no longer have the same hold on my life. I now have peace and hope that I never knew before. Hearing the Bible in my own language made me understand that God sees me and cares for my people. Please continue to pray for me as I grow in my faith and learn to walk with Christ every day.
Unknown Nations is an official partner with the Joshua Project, a trusted global resource for identifying and tracking unreached and Frontier People Groups.
They have asked Unknown Nations to help lead this effort because we believe the mission is not finished and that, as followers of Jesus, we still have a responsibility to reach those waiting to hear for the very first time.
