WHAT HAPPENED
The roads relief trucks need are the roads the flood took first.
In minutes, a glacial collapse above the Bhotekoshi River triggered a flood that buried villages under mud, tore out bridges, and erased stretches of road that took a generation to build. The damage runs across Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading — mountain districts where a washed-out bridge doesn't mean a detour. It means the village on the other side is alone.
That's the part of this disaster most coverage will move past quickly. It's also the reason local pastors and ministry leaders matter right now more than almost anyone else responding.
They didn't need the road to reopen. They already knew the trail.

Many of these leaders lost everything themselves: A home, a shop, the motorbike that got them from village to village. And they are still the first ones walking in, because their neighbors already trust them, flood or no flood.
