TIMES OF CRISIS
Advancing the Gospel in Refugee and IDP Camps
More than 40 million people around the world have been forcibly displaced by war, violence, and persecution. Every two seconds, someone is driven from their home, often fleeing into refugee or internally displaced persons (IDP) camps that were meant to be temporary but have become generational realities.
Entire families are uprooted, uncertain of what tomorrow holds.
Maximizing Impact for the Unreached
An Unprecedented Gospel Opportunity
Refugees and IDPs have experienced extreme and unimaginable hardships, including the loss of home, security, and stability. As they face these overwhelming realities, many remain without access to the eternal hope of the gospel.
Yet even in crisis, God is at work. Hardship often softens hearts and creates openness to truth. As people groups are gathered into camps and host communities, nations once closed by political, spiritual, or physical barriers become uniquely accessible. For many refugees and internally displaced families, this is their first genuine opportunity to hear and respond to the good news of Jesus.
The Harvest is Great
At Unknown Nations, we work across Northern Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, serving in some of the largest refugee and IDP camps where entire displaced communities have little to no physical support or gospel presence.
Through our network of Strategic Outpost Leaders and indigenous missionaries, we are positioned to respond quickly within refugee and IDP communities. We demonstrate the love of God as the hands and feet of Jesus, meeting urgent needs for food, medicine, shelter, and essential supplies. By walking alongside families in their greatest need, trust is established and hearts become receptive to Christ.
The gospel is presented by distributing Treasure audio Bibles and developing relationships with those displaced. Listening groups form. Disciples are trained. And new believers are supported as they often face severe opposition and persecution within the camps. In environments where faith in Christ can lead to isolation or hardship, ongoing discipleship, community, and practical care are essential.
In places marked by displacement, God is establishing His Church.

Life Changing Hope.
Mary, a woman disabled by polio, once felt so burdensome to her family that she attempted to end her life. Her husband, also disabled after a tragic train accident, shared her sense of hopelessness. When an Unknown Nations indigenous leader visited their home and gave them a solar-powered audio Bible, they listened together. Though once devout Hindus, hearing God’s Word led both Mary and her husband to place their faith in Christ, finding new hope and purpose.
